There are some things the teacher can do in order to make the reading experience more productive for students. As we have been talking, technology is a great tool to increase learners motivation and reduce learners anxiety, engage learners and promote learners autonomy. The key element here, is to foster more practice outside the classroom and finding enough variety of materials so all students can read something they can understand.
Is really important that we as teachers encourage our students to see their reading o as a source of questions to think about rather than answers to accept, also to encourage students to have their own ideas about what they read, and to encourage our students to exchange their points of view with other students and respect the differences.
There are some sites that provide a wide range of materials, topics, difficulty levels and sophisticated illustrations and sometimes accompanied by oral readings with animations, that we can share with our students so they can practice more time by their own.
The main point of using these sites as resources is to increase student practice time outside the classroom students doing assigned or volunteer reading on their own making the learning experience more productive.

Hello Vane. I am in agreement with you about encouraging students to read, I think it is important to develop in our students’ critical thinking about what they read in order they have their own way to see the things and not just to accept whatever that people say to them. Nowadays to motivate students is much easier through the use of internet because as you mentioned there are a lot of websites that provide interesting articles illustrated according to the level of English, so students have the opportunity to choose what they understand and like the most. It is important that our students have the habit of reading because that will help them to improve their vocabulary, reduce stress, increase knowledge and stronger analytical thinking skills. As teachers our job is as well to motivate them to read because the benefits they will get are excellent.
ResponderEliminarI agree with you Vanessa when you mention about illustrations and animation as part of the reading and writing practice. As we have studied during this course we see how useful technology is when we encourage the positive way about it. On the other hand, I like your comment about technology help us out to increase student’s motivation and reduce anxiety, but I think this fact may vary depending on the type of students we have. For example, if we receive a group of 15 students where 13 have previous background using technological devices but the other 2 students don´t, the anxiously would affect these two only while the rest are enjoying the practice. What I try to say is, that we as teachers have the obligation to look for strategies that help all our students to feel happy in the learning process.
