Today students are fluent in Web and social networking technologies, educators can take advantage of this knowledge to enrich the learning experience. With media, instructors can foster collaboration and discussion, create meaningful learning environment of exchanging ideas, and boost student interaction.
We have learned from our experience of being students or being educators that a way to create a meaningful context for teaching, is through the use of media, which can be a variety of print, audio and visual formats. There are ways to develop activities where teachers can integrate media such as television shows, newspapers, magazines, videos, etc.
Many times it is difficult to get out of the comfort zone and try new ideas that can be really successful , but for easement or fear we dare not to do it, for example: videos; which is one of the most successful tool to integrate into classroom activities as visual and auditory tool.
So, I encourage my future colleagues, to get out of the comfort zone, and get creative to involve and engage our students into a meaningful learning environment, Rather than search for a video online, create your own video, with the most important and meaningful aspects that you want them lo learn.

Hi vanessa, first of all, let me tell you that your blog for the reading for this week is very interesting and that I do agree with you and the ideas you stated in this post. First, I do agree with you when you mentioned that Teachers can take advantage of students being fluent by web and social networking this days. I think that as you said this a very important way in which we can create a great learnning environment and at the same time it is a good way to encourage their interaction and colaboration among them. I do also agree with you when you stated that that in order to create a meaningful context for teaching is trhough the use of technology. I think that by applying techonolody in the classroom specially in pur english class teachers noy only create a great environment in which students can have an entertained class, but also a great environment in which students can learne and acquire the language properly. One last thing I liked it whe you mentioned that as future teachers we got to get out of the comfort zone and get creative to involve and engage our students into a meaninful learning environment. I think that students get bored of the same method of teaching speacially in schools I think that we as future teachers we need to innovate we need to be creative so that our students can learn in a very entertained way, so base on this last thing you mentioned that we need to be creative I got one question for you. what other thing would you do in order to be creative? besides of creating our own video.
ResponderEliminarhi vanessa. before to start writing about your blog. what i can tell about it is that i agree with you, and all examples you give in this blog are true. there is a phrase in your blog that called my attention and is when you say that throuhg technology teachers can create meaningful learning environment of exchanging ideas, and boost student interaction and all this is because while you use technology, you are creating in students a new idea of how to learn through media. however students realize that when the class is given through videos, they can learn in a faster way than when they just go to the class and start reading books.

Hi Vanessa! I really like your post for this week, and I want to give you my opinion about your post. First of all I want to say that we as teachers or future teachers have to take adventage that students from this days are fluent in Web and Social Media. It is not boring for them to search a spefic topic on Internet or comment in blogs related with subject. Second, we as educators or future educators we have to leave the comfort zone that you mention, stop using the old school method and start using media in the class. For instance, if you dont find a video related with the topic your are teaching, you can easily create one and play it to the students. To conclude, teachers have to be creative in order to help students to learn properly and not get bored in class.

Wow Vanessa your post is very interesting, yes because teaching techniques have changed across the times, but it seems many of us are not really enthusiastic about this new ways of learning. I guess the responsible for this is our culture that have dictated us that we must assist physically to a school.

Obviously this is a wrong paradigm and, us as new educators must begin to change our way of thinking in order to get the new generation's way of thinking with different values and paradigms.
